Did I miss something? SGA Question

This is about Michael in Search & Rescue and The Prodigal. How in the hell did he fly the Puddle Jumper that he stole while Sheppard, Ronon and Rodney were rescuing Teyla? That has bugged the hell out of me for a while now. I've been assuming that when he was playing with Carson's retrovirus and creating his hybrids that he also got the ATA gene therapy, but I don't recall them ever actually saying.
