What's with me and memes lately? I usually hate doing these things. *snerk*
Snurched from rhoboat.
If you want commentary on aspects of any vid I've made, post a comment. Let me know if there are particular questions you'd like me to answer, choices you'd like to talk about, or elements of the vid you'd like me to expound on (favorite moments, etc.).

Oh you're a trixy one for this but let me see if I can give it a shot. I actually have to look something up on one of the story posts because that'll give you almost the date it hit me.

I'll be back... :D

Well, I think everyone who's read my LJ long enough can figure out that I love the fuck out of the series. Fell smack dab head over heels in love with it because it hit every single kink and a few I didn't know I had. I really hadn't went out looking for a song to vid to it or any SG-1 at that point. Too much source material to sort through so I was afraid to even try.

According to this comment to Inanna (which some of my response there gives you an answer): For the longest time I've been trying to figure out what was so familiar about this universe, in particular Daniel. Finally about a week or two ago it hit me when I put in mix CD that I'd made for writing to and I found myself thinking of these characters as the words for I'll Be Yours by Placebo played out. To me this song is both how your Daniel thinks of his relationships and Cameron answering him..

So basically they chose each other.

One thing that really helped was the ease that I saw the story and how when I heard the song I saw *that* in my head. Typically the easiest part of video is how I'm going to start it because I'll throw clips together that may or may not have any association with one another in the normal fashion but they'll fit the music and what the story that the music is telling me. With this I knew I wanted to start out with the things essential to the story: Daniel and Jack but with Jack in the background. Then in comes Cameron with his newness and ideas about what SG-1 is and that starts it off. I tried re-creating what we saw in, A Valley of Dry Bones, because that was a decent starting point to tie in the story and the video. I didn't want to tell Syn's entire universe, no way possible, but I wanted to show the heart of it.

And tell me about how much you change the images (if you do) from their original forms when you capture them in the wild....

I didn't do much alteration with this one, I did try use photoshop to manip a particular image (Cam wearing a collar) since what we have in canon doesn't fit what we see in E'vese (damn those writers for having that outside) but it didn't work out like I wanted. But the only other tweaks I did was with the coloring/lighting because they don't match through all of the seasons and there were several shots I needed in particular from other parts of the series because they had the look that I saw in my head (like Daniel coming into the room and Cam reaches into his bag). Another reason I re-colored the clips is because it aids the tone a great deal. (plus, I guess I can admit it… I'm addicting to re-coloring things. And it also helps keep down the likelihood of someone stealing my clips without having to use the tacky watermarks.)

Most of what I use is a simple look or movement, some of the things are only a few frames and stretched out (that gives it that slow look). Those glances tie in to what I mentioned above about showing the heart because I'm trying to show the emotion and impact each man has on the other over the course of time.

How's that? Did I miss anything?

Well, she took my first choice, so I'll ask about "Innocence" instead.

How long did it take you to complete it? What inspired you to use mostly "Meltdown" pieces (aside from the holy frelling PWPness of it)? Looking back, what was the hardest part of making it?

hehe Your choice is easy.

How long did it take you to complete it?

Originally less than a day. I'd have to say that when I went to re-edit it that it took about the same length of time because I'd already had the clips ripped for a friend since her DVD was fubar'd.

What inspired you to use mostly "Meltdown" pieces (aside from the holy frelling PWPness of it)?

It was the song. I have found it to be one of the most erotic songs ever and the purity of John and Aeryn's love for one another when with that and entire feel of the music and those scenes are just that boiled down. But the heart of it all is Aeryn. To quote what I'd written on the re-edit post: this is Aeryn's video (both Johns point to her star to give the viewer a hint of this), and her journey to innocence through love and learning to care and give herself over to those emotions. It's also the reason why the open/closing scenes were of Moya, bookending the scenes taking place on Talyn. Both ships were also key to her journey.

Looking back, what was the hardest part of making it?

People not getting what I was trying to say perhaps. Because they saw the sex and not what the sex, the abandon was telling us when presented with it on the screen. Nothing else about this was difficult at all.

eta: *points up* I answer IG's question about E'verse. :)

*grin* Would it be possibly to get my very own Kaz neural clone for my brain when I starting vidding?

Lovely answer, thank you! I've always adored that vid, because sometimes a girl likes to watch two people in love and lust without all the angst, you know? The vid just captured the playfulness, the fun and flirting they let themselves do, as a precursor to admitting to more.

I don't think you could afford the therapy bill. ;)

Exactly. They did such a wonderful job of making us wait for so long with these two and what we got with them was joy (until well... you know. *g*).

What we were lucky to see was Aeryn's journey to becoming the person she was meant to be and I'm not talking about a wife/mother but a person within her right outside of anyone else's (Peacekeepers mainly) idea of what that was supposed to be. We all take those experiences for granted and through her we saw what it is that makes a person 'a person'. I hope that makes just as much sense to you as it did in my head.

Certainly it makes sense.

She could be more, and then she was.

I would love an examination of the clip choices in.... fuck, my mind has lost the title, the Counting Bodies Avastark one.

But give me a bit to write it up.

I haven't forgotten about this. It's just tricky to write up coherently because I think a tad differently than most folks. ;)
