I swear that Centuri's ship looks like a frelling DeLorean. Which, when you think about the time that this came out it shouldn't be a surprise since Back To The Future put the car name on every kid's lips a year later. :D
It really appealed to me back then because I was going through my obsessive phase (like it ever really ended, right? But it's tame now compared to 12 years ago. You should seen how many times I saw Back To The Future and Dune when we first got a VCR.) and it played to something that every kid wants to become... a hero saving the day.
I've never grown tired of Robert Preston as Centuri. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is one of the first times that they had current (well current for 1984) 'Earth' jokes and references in a space setting. At least this was the first time I'd ever seen it and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And obviously I continue to enjoy it since it was one of my favorite things about Farscape and John Crichton.
Death Blossom is the Best. Name. Ever. when talking about a BFG.
It's funny how they're able to travel back and forth from Earth (as well as receive radio transmissions) so quickly. Is there a wormhole tucked in somewhere that they don't show? ;) The whole movie is cute and gives me warm fuzzies 'cause it reminds me of getting permission to stay up late to watch repeats of it and falling asleep just before the end.
ETA: By the way, did you all see what

If not then... G O L O O K... WOW! *applauds everyone involved*
