Angel (John)

(no subject)

I just finished watching an episode of Cold Case that has me tearing up. Which is not a first time with this show. I haven't followed the series too closely but the episodes I've seen I was really pleased with the story telling.

But this one had to do with two girls (one black, the other white) in a lesbian relationship in 1932. The way they portrayed the relationship was so tender and loving, sometimes the narrative (in a flashback) is told through the poems written by the black woman's character. Very beautifully done, the actress' voice was perfect for this.

Despite how they re-enacted the time period, I can't even begin to imagine how it was for lesbians back then, much less if they were a interracial couple, or how much fear that must have punctuated much of the relationship.

Anyone that survived that era I hope they at least found some happiness.

My brother has really surprised me the last few weeks and his attitudes about lesbians just for the fact that the bar that he and A have been visiting has a steady crowd of the same women. A even told me that he's played a few games of pool with one couple. This actually surprised me a great deal. Used to, as soon as he see a hint of queer, he'd run for the hills.

He said that next time, they'll definitely take me with them so I can 'check them out'. *raises eyebrow* I don't know about that. It would feel extremely weird for some reason.

Which brings me to the fact that M told A that since she knows how her dad feels about her and boys, she was going to tell him that she was gay! WTF? I could just see the eruption from that!

Volcanoes Gone Wild!

That's the title H decided on for his science report. His mom kinda ticked me off by joking around that she was going to tell his teacher that he cheated since he had help from me and my brother.

Let me see:

H did the research, found the website with the information, told me what he needed from it. Then wrote his oral report for the class.
His dad helped him build the volcano model. (It looks really choice by the way.)
I printed out his report, put it in a binder, and took it to his house.

I know she's joking but I think it's in bad taste to screw with a kid's self-esteem like that since none of the things done are in no way cheating and H was getting pissed at his mom for continuing to say it.

He did well not to act out on it though and gave me a hug and told me thank you. He then did the cutest thing though and told me to bend down, I did and he gave me a kiss on the cheek and told me that he'd wanted to get me something for valentines day but was informed that the chocolate eyeball he'd planned on would give me a toothache. Awww... ♥ I swear that when he starts dating, he's going to be a catch for any girl. He's got a good heart.

Over the weekend H told my brother what he wanted for his 13th birthday... to leave his mom's house and come live with him.

I can't believe my baby boy is going to be thirteen in three months. Officially a teenager. It just blows my mind.

Now off to fix the drivers on M's computer so that they can burn pictures onto disc for my brother's portolio.

Claudia Black is on Dresden Files.

via TF via Gateworld.

Claudia Black is going to be on an episode of The Dresden Files, called The Other Dick (episode spoilers at that link), on March 25th. Gotta love that title. :D

I'm going to be looking forward to this one since the series is starting to grow on me.

Just a little side note: Dairy Queen's Flamethrower burger is sooo good. It's not as spicy as the name implies and I'm a wuss when it comes to spicy foods.
